Hey everyone! I’m Tosin, My father is Nigerian (where my name comes from) and my mom is from America (power to my interracial couples!) I am currently working in the retail industry. I decided to start blogging to share with the world all of my adventures and thoughts when I’m off the clock.
I grew up in Springfield IL and relocated to Connecticut to go to college. I attended UConn on a full athletic scholarship for volleyball. This is where I really got introduced to traveling.
We traveled almost every weekend to different stated for games and tournaments and this is when my love for travel exploded! I wanted to travel more than just for matches I wanted to experience everything the world had to offer…. And then I realized, duh Tosin, you. are. broke. And you have no time. So this adventurous side had to take a chill pill.
Fast forward to my last semester of college, I had no clue what the hell to do with myself. I had a lot of extra time so I decided now was the best time to do what I have always wanted to do. I started my own fashion line Adeniyi Designs. My idea behind this line is renewable fashion, so all of my materials were either thrifted or renewable materials. This was a success in my eyes, I was sewing all day every day for about ¾’s of my last semester in college making fashion for people who believed in my passion and message. And I had my first pop up shop!
Disclaimer: my personality type is one that is characterized as having so many great ideas and starting a project with so much fire and spark. Starting projects and coming up with fresh ideas are my ISH! However, eventually my fire dies off. Although that is not exactly what happened with my fashion line, it has fizzled a little bit. So I decided that I need to get back to my root and recenter my line before I jump straight into it again.
Lol I also started a food Instagram @tosinandmimosin. I love food so much and I ovbi needed to make an avenue for me to share this with the world too because WHY NOT! so you could definitely hit that up too.
My most recent adventure is one that I am SO excited to start. I just signed up for Teacher Training to become a yoga teacher! I have fallen in love with the practice. I just love how free and powerful the practice makes me feel and I wanted to be able to share this feeling with others. So stay tuned for some yogi pics, videos, and blogs!
Hi, just an update on this, I have now finished Teacher Training and I am a 200 Hour Certified Yoga Instructor! Teacher training was amazing and I will do a blog post on this soon!
Moving past these exciting phase of my entrepreneurial life I realized ( with the strong voice of my parents) that I should probably get a job that would give me a steady income mega eye roll. But alas, I began looking at internships and jobs that aligned with my major ( Management Information Systems) and I ended up getting an internship in IT. I quickly realized that this was NOT for me, but as luck would have it, my IT job was with a retail company so I somehow weaseled my way into the retail side of the company finding my way back into fashion giant sigh of relief.
And this leads me to today, working 9-5 in retail on my way to becoming a buyer. So what does that have to do with this blog? Honestly I don’t have an amazing reason that brings everything to full circle quite yet BUT I know I wanted to bring my love of fashion, traveling, eating and sharing my experiences all together. And I may have some great adventures up my sleeve 🙂
Another update on this, I recently quit my job and I am now traveling the world (WHAAAAAA). To quickly sum this up, I realized i needed time to figure out myself and what I want to contribute to this world so I decided to move to Portugal with the amazing Shonn (my boyfriend). As he plays basketball overseas I am taking time to explore the world, discover myself, and learn every lesson I can!
At the end of the day, I want all of my readers to see that life is meant to be lived. That simple, so START LIVING PEOPLE! (and follow my blog lol).
